Documented 2006-2007 water savings

The following are a few of the documented water savings from the Rain Bird™ ET Manager:

1. South Centre Mall – Ivanhoe Cambridge*
	Usage Prior: 8 691 808 litres/yr Usage 2006: 4 958 116 litres Usage 2007: 2 647 622 litres	→ 43% or 3 733 692 litres saved → 66.2% or 5 182 251 litres saved¹
	• Water cost savings of $12 573.27 over two years² ¹ Safeway irrigation not functioning in 2007. Percentage savings have been factored to eliminate Safeway’s prior usage
2. Shaw Cable Systems Head Office*
	Usage Prior: 9 857 181 litres/yr Usage 2006: 6 214 112 litres Usage 2007: 7 134 721 litres	→ 35.2% or 3 643 069 litres saved → 27.62% or 2 722 460 litres saved
	• Water cost savings of $8 897.64 over two years²
3. Beattie Homes Head Office* (small commercial)
	Usage Prior: 1 573 970 litres/yr Usage 2006: 810 832 litres Usage 2007: 620 048 litres	→ 48.48% or 763 138 litres saved → 60.06% or 953 922 litres saved
	• Water cost savings of $2 418.84 in 2 years²
4. The Renaissance Condominiums*
	Usage Prior: 4 646 960 litres/yr Usage 2006: 3 132 039 litres Usage 2007: 3 042 552 litres	→ 32.6% or 1 514 921 litres saved → 34.53% or 1 604 408 litres saved
	•Water cost savings of $4 382.26¹ in 2 years²
5. Real Canadian Superstore – Westhills*
	Usage Prior: 2 424 550 litres/yr Usage 2006: 1 578 738 litres Usage 2007: 1 522 355 litres	→ 34.89% or 845 812 litres saved → 37.21% or 902 195 litres saved
	• Water cost savings of $2 455.98¹ in 2 years²

*Note: These are the documented water savings during a typical irrigation season (May – September).

² Water cost savings based on City of Calgary irrigation water meter rates of $1.3628/m³ in 2006 and $1.4446/m³ for 2007. Water rates are increasing to $1.5313/m³ in 2008. Usage amounts have been converted from m³ to litres for demonstration purposes. ET losses in 2006 were 29% higher than average and July of 2007 was the hottest and driest month on record in 47 years.
